As we are located right on the center you will find around us anything which might usually be found in a town the size of Faro.

Supermarkets

Go down our street reach the little square and there is a supermarket in the opposite point, across the street. Its name is Minipreço and the branding is yellow. It’s small but well stocked. It is open daily from 8 to 22.

Alternatively, walking the opposite direction, you will find Algartalhos by the side of igreja do Carmo, in an area which is one of the parking zones we recommend. We would skip this supermarket though. It’s tight and farther than Minipreço, so there is no real reason to go there.

In the underground floor of the Municipal Market building you will find a good average size supermarket. Its name is Auchan and it’s open daily from 8 to 20:30.

For larger scale shopping you have the hypermarket in Fórum Algarve, the town’s shopping center. It’s a bit far to walk but not impossible. About 2 km. The name is also Auchan. Same products as the one mentioned above but much bigger.

Pharmacies

There are several pharmacies at walking distance. The closest one is by the end of the street, in the little square. You will find a couple of others in the main pedestrian street, rua de Santo António.

Laundry

If you need to do your laundry you will find a laundry shop going down our street, reaching the little square, turning right and walk up rua Lethes. The laundry is on the right side hand, about 100 m for the beginning of rua Lethes. It is not an automated laundry shop it’s properly manned.

ATM’s

The closest ATM is located around the corner, going down our street. There is another one in front of this, in the building of hotel Faro.

Please, while in Portugal stay away of any ATM which is not clearly associated with a bank. It’s not necessary to be actually physically attached to a bank branch, but they should be ran by a proper bank. In the last couple of years plenty of ATM’s were planted by some independent companies and they are dispense money with high fees and all sort of dirty tricks.

SIM Cards

There are three major operators in Portugal. Our favorite is Vodafone but sadly there isn’t a shop in the center of Faro. You might want to visit MEO shop, located in Largo do Carmo, one of our usual parking areas.

Vodafone is present in Fórum Algarve, the main shopping center, 2 km from the center. The same goes to NOS, the third operador, also with their shop in Fórum Algarve.
