Lab Terrace is a chill out space, a terrace with a view. It’s relatively hidden although recently more and more visitors come to the place. It opened a couple of years ago. Initially it was frequented by a Portuguese crowd, I would say, the upper middle class of Faro.
It’s our favorite place to spend some time in a pleasant late afternoon, preferably with a prospective sunset and a high tide. It’s beautiful when the water covers all that extension and it’s quiet and serene. Just an occasional boat cutting through the water, the airplanes landing in the far airport.
It’s an ideal spot to relax after a day out, walking and explore. Sun chairs are super comfy and drinks are properly chilled. We usually order a Bandida do Pomar, a Portuguese apple cider served with a pinch of cinnamon.
A good books is a great companion for a visit to Lab Terrace. Sometimes there is live music or some DJ performing. In those days it’s a bit noisy. Different atmosphere.
As far as I know the space works with a concession agreement, from the science museum for children to the owners of Lab Terrace. They are a nice couple who do everything. Which means that sometimes the space doesn’t open or it opens later than usual. Or only if the weather is favorable, which in the summer is pretty much everyday, but can be somewhat irregular during the fall and winter. Better check their Facebook page for updates.
