Perhaps the most common questions from our guests is where to got out for dinner. We have a few suggestion. Not really a lot but they are truly our favorites. So…

A Tasca do João; the farthest from our house, but still very walkable. Perhaps 500 meters far. Only opens for dinner. Daily from 18:30 to 23:30. Closes on Mondays. Small intimate place, just a few tables, most of them only for two persons. Service is provided (also) by the owner, João. High quality food. Serving “petiscos“, the Portuguese concept of small dishes of food for munching.

A Venda; pretty much like A Tasca do João, but closer to our house. Actually it’s the street behind us so to get there just go out, turn left, then left and left again. 2 minutes walking. Open from 18:00 to 23:00 and on Saturdays also from 13:00 to 15:00. Closes on Sundays.

Mercearia de São Pedro; a bit more local, not so much targeting the tourists market. However, because of word of mouth and the wonders of internet, it became very popular. It’s a family business, based in a couple, Isabel and Paulo. She is a passionate cook who truly loves what she does. It’s about 100 meters from our house. Just go out, turn left, go across the church square and it will be on the left side, roughly 40 meters from the square.

Lodo; this one we don’t personally recommend because we never gave it a try. But because they are experts on sea food and it has been recommended by many of our guests, we want to include the place in this list. It’s about 5 min walking, in one of the main pedestrian streets.

Woods; same street as Lodo, next door to McDonalds; excellent salads, creative sandwiches and freshly squeezed juices. Sometimes it’s too busy by dinner time and service becomes very slow.
